Everton legend Duncan Ferguson not in line for Blackburn job
Everton coach Duncan Ferguson has denied that he has been approached or spoken to Blackburn Rovers about their vacant manager’s job.
The Toffees legend was linked with the role at Ewood Park on Monday morning [May 30, ESPN], in what would be a shock development having taken on a role in Frank Lampard’s backroom staff at the club.
But Baz from ToffeeTV, who is known to have a good relationship with Ferguson, took to Twitter to share that he had spoken with him and that the Scot had confirmed no contact with Rovers had taken place.
“For all the messages… just spoke to Dunc, he’s not been interviewed or contacted by Blackburn. Mad story but if they want him then they need to speak to him at least! Ha,” he said in his tweet.
Reports that he could be set to leave seem to be wide of the mark according to the man himself, but Ferguson is known to want to become a manager at some point in his career so if he is approached he could get a yes.
Blow
While Ferguson is a huge part of the culture at Goodison Park and is a hugely popular figure in the dressing room, it’s a wide open secret that he wants to be the main man.
Big Dunc has had two spells in charge at Everton himself as the interim manager, with his most recent spell coming during the last season where he lost to Aston Villa before Lampard was hired and after Rafa Benitez was fired.

But he was overlooked for the main job yet again and although he took a job in the backroom staff it was more out of helping the club than actually wanting to.
If the chance to be the main man came up elsewhere then he would likely take it and that would be a massive blow to what Lampard and Everton are trying to build.
He’d be impossible to replace with his presence and character, but he deserves the chance to prove himself.
