Sky pundit hails Frank Lampard work for Alex Iwobi Everton breakout when fans weren’t convinced
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Alex Iwobi has been “excellent” for Everton during the relegation run in and Frank Lampard has made a clear difference, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Arsenal midfielder was a key reason for the Toffees’ Premier League survival with his energetic displays which helped drive the team forward in vital wins, not least in conjunction with Dele Alli during the second half comeback against Crystal Palace that sealed safety.
The Nigerian international hasn’t always been a fan-favourite since his initial £28million move three years ago, but Sky Sports pundit Campbell is delighted to see the improvement since former Chelsea boss Lampard came in and believes opinions will be changing over the 26-year-old.

“He’s been excellent. I think Frank Lampard has given him confidence,” he said speaking exclusively to Goodison News.
“I think Frank Lampard also has challenged him to be that player.
“And fair play to Iwobi, he’s stepped up.
“I speak to a lot of Evertonians and they were like, ‘Iwobi hasn’t been doing that great,’ and stuff like that.
“But under Frank Lampard I think he’s been the most consistent player over the period, when he’s had his chance.
“Onwards and upwards. It’s good to see, and it’s good to see Frank Lampard making a difference in players.”

With so much focus on the transfer market, especially when Premier League sides are usually flush with cash, in-house improvements can be forgotten.
Getting the best out of the players you have at your disposal through coaching and tactics should be the key focus of a modern head coach, and it appears that Lampard has done a great job of that with Iwobi.
He had been in and out of the team up until mid-March, but from the win against Newcastle, where he scored a 99th-minute winner, onwards he played the entirety of every league game, proving he was one of the first names on the team sheet for the Toffees boss.
In other Everton news, the club have enquired at a European giant over one of their players who is available this summer.
