Everton exit likely for Nathan Broadhead with Sunderland in talks to sign him
An Everton exit is on the cards for striker Nathan Broadhead with Sunderland now in talks to sign him, according to the Sunderland Echo.
The 24-year-old has been on loan at the Stadium of Light over the past season (2021-22) and they are hopeful of taking him back.
He scored 13 goals with the Black Cats, after making the bench for a single Premier League game with the Toffees at the beginning of the season, but his opportunity to make it into the Everton first team looks to have gone.

The Liverpool Echo’s Adam Jones told his Sunderland Echo counterparts: “For Broadhead, you’d imagine there would only be a slim chance of him signing a new deal.
“Realistically if he was going to break through into the senior side, you’d have thought the time would have already come by now.
“I’d personally say there’s a very realistic chance of this move happening.”
While he called Broadhead an “exciting talent” he did admit that “it’s unlikely that Broadhead is a significant outlay as things stand,” so there probably won’t be a large fee coming in.
Pastures new
At his age he would probably have made more of an impact at Goodison by now if it was going to happen, but a total of 10 minutes across a pair of senior appearances suggests he is better off returning to the club where he has had success.
He was part of Sunderland’s team for a promotion season and, having done well in the third tier, is probably ready for an assault on the second.
If he continues in the same vein next season then he may well still get his chance in the top flight, whether that be with the Black Cats or with another move elsewhere.

There could be space in the attacking department of Frank Lampard’s senior squad if star man Richarlison moves on, as Fabrizio Romano has reported is a distinct possibility.
But the likes of Ellis Simms will presumably be ahead of Broadhead if the Toffees boss looks within for a replacement.
It might be sensible for the club to negotiate a buy-back clause in case he comes on quickly and becomes an attractive prospect for first-team football, but on the whole it seems like a sensible move for all parties if he rejoins the side from the North-East.
In other Everton news, a major exit from the club this summer could hinge on a similar deal occurring at the Premier League champions.
