Everton offer Jonjoe Kenny fresh three-year deal amid outside interest
Everton have put a brand new contract in front of Jonjoe Kenny as they looked to secure the homegrown talent’s future at Goodison Park.
According to The Times, the 25-year-old has been offered a three-year deal to stay on Merseyside to fend off Premier League and Bundesliga sides who are hoping to sign him if his contract expires, which it is due to do this summer.
The Everton academy graduate finally barged his way into the senior squad during the 2021-22 campaign and has now played more than 50 times for the Toffees after a number of loan spells away from Finch Farm.

The Bundesliga interest is no surprise after he spent the 2019-20 season on loan with Schalke 04 but none of the supposed sides keeping tabs on the situation were named by The Times.
Kenny has been battling for the right-back position with Seamus Coleman for the entirety of his time with the Blues but the January signing of Nathan Patterson could threaten his future on Merseyside.
Withdraw
As much as we love to see players who came through our academy system to the first team, Kenny is not a player who should be seen in our immediate future.
Coleman should still have another season in his legs yet before he begins to slow down a touch and he can spend that year helping out the much younger Patterson to be his eventual replacement in that position.

Such a situation kind of leaves Kenny in limbo where he isn’t a very young up and coming talent nor is he the experienced head to guide his teammates through the tough moments.
We also have to consider where we want this team to go in the next couple of seasons.
If we’re happy to drop down to the Championship and become a yo-yo club, then Kenny is the kind of player to fit that mould but if we want to show any ambition whatsoever, then he really needs to be let go and if he suddenly becomes a world-beater, so be it.
In other Everton news, this relegated captain is on the radar of the Toffees with Frank Lampard taking on his old pal Steven Gerrard and Aston Villa in the race to sign him.
