Dominic Calvert-Lewin to hold talks with Everton over future, hasn’t ruled out exit

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin will hold talks with Everton this summer over his future and hasn’t ruled out an exit, according to The Mirror [June 3].

The Toffees were able to seal their Premier League status for next season thanks to Calvert-Lewin’s headed winner against Crystal Palace in the penultimate game of the season after an injury hit campaign.

But despite those injuries, clubs including Arsenal [Athletic] and Manchester United [Sport Bible] remain interested in a possible transfer for the England international this summer.

With the club facing financial difficulties after the sanctioning of Alisher Usmanov earlier this year, the new report claims that manager Frank Lampard and the striker will hold talks with the 25-year-old not yet ruling out a move away.

Everton however are adamant they will not sell their star striker and are keen to keep him at Goodison Park next season.

Massive

While Everton were able to get out of their horrible situation in the 2021/22 campaign relatively unscathed in the end and without Calvert-Lewin, he showed just how massive a player he is for them in the final stretch.

His physical presence, willingness to run the channels and excellent finishing ability means he is the perfect target man for Lampard’s side and would prove to be near impossible to replace, with Carlo Ancelotti once describing him as “fantastic“.

A major transfer fee would obviously be tempting for all considering the position they currently find themselves in, but they know they have a better chance of improving in the new season with him in their side rather than not.

If the player makes himself clear that he wants to leave then it will be very tough for the club to stop it, but Lampard will be looking to do everything he can to convince him his future lies on Merseyside.
