Gylfi Sigurdsson update at Everton as Frank Lampard gets closer to James Tarkowski transfer
Everton are set to release Gyfli Sigurdsson, Cenk Tosun and Fabian Delph to free up the “serious money” needed to sign James Tarkowski, according to The Mirror.
The newspaper reported via their print edition on 3 June (page 56) that the Blues are “increasingly confident” of signing Tarkowski, 29, as the exit-bound Burnley defender asks for a deal worth £100,000-a-week.
It is understood that Tarkowski’s wage demands have cooled interest from Aston Villa and West Ham but Newcastle United remain as rivals in Everton’s big to sign the two-time England international.

Tarkowski is reportedly leaning towards a move to Goodison Park due to his connections to the North-West but before a deal can be done, the Toffees need to ensure that their finances are in the right place to agree such a deal.
Sigurdsson, Tosun and Delph are set to be out of contract at the end of June so their exits should free up the funds for Tarkowski.
All change
Everton’s squad definitely needs a revamp this summer and clearing out players who are reaching the end of their presumably big contracts is a good start.
Delph played a bit of a role for the Blues at the end of the 2021/22 season and was helpful in Frank Lampard’s survival efforts.
However, Sigurdsson and Tosun should have been shown the exit door at Goodison Park a long time ago and nobody will miss them at all.

Tarkowski is asking for a lot of money to join his next club.
In a way, that’s understandable because no one will need to pay a transfer fee to Burnley to sign him so there should be more money for clubs to with when it comes to signing him.
However, after the season he had in which Burnley were relegated to the Championship, he shouldn’t be as bold as he is being.
But, at the end of the day, Tarkowski is an upgrade on a number of the centre-backs that Lampard has at Goodison and we feel as though he should be a solid addition to the backline.
In other Everton news, the Blues could be forced into a big sale as Alisher Usmanov’s name is mentioned in a transfer report.
