Seamus Coleman urges Everton to ‘learn’ after difficult campaign
Veteran full-back Seamus Coleman has urged the top-tier management at Everton to “learn” after a difficult campaign.
The Toffees were involved heavily in the relegation battle but escaped, thanks to a crucial victory against Crystal Palace at Goodison Park.
Coleman, while talking to the Irish Independent, revealed that it was a difficult campaign for the players and their families despite achieving the desired result of staying in the Premier League.

“It was a tough season for us all, parents, wife, kids,” he said. “It was a tough grind. We got what we wanted in the end.
“It is not exactly what we are describing as a successful season but when you get stuck in that rut with six weeks to go, we got what we wanted.
“I just want what’s best for the team, myself, the club, my teammates, my manager but as a club, we need to learn massively from it.”

Leader on the park
Coleman has been a real leader on the pitch in a tough campaign, something which was extremely valuable for Everton.
The 33-year-old finished the campaign after representing the Toffees in 34 matches across all competitions, 30 of which came in the Premier League.
Coleman had an average rating of 6.61 in the campaign which was better than a lot of players in the squad who were supposed to be defensively good.
With Everton finally managing to keep their spot in the top-flight football for another season, manager Frank Lampard will be hoping to see the star defender continue for a few more years to bring some solidity at the back.
The Ireland international joined the Liverpool-based club in the summer of 2009 in a deal worth £63,000 from Sligo Rovers.
Since then, Coleman has represented his current club’s senior team in 384 matches across all competitions, scoring 27 times and providing 32 assists.
