Three strikers Everton must look into if Dominic Calvert-Lewin leaves

Everton are gearing up for a bid for striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin from fellow Premier League club Newcastle United, according to The Telegraph.

The England striker has been linked heavily with a move away from the Goodison Park in the upcoming transfer window.

Therefore, as per the latest report, Newcastle could now test the Toffees’ resolve to keep Calvert-Lewin around beyond this summer in Merseyside.

If the 25-year-old will leave the club, Everton must think of using one out of the three candidates to replace their star forward.

The candidates

Moise Kean

Moise Kean has played for PSG and Juventus since leaving Everton. However, his performances have been nowhere near what was expected of him.

With the Italy international’s future remaining in doubt as Juventus are not eager to keep him for the next season despite agreeing to a two-year loan deal, manager Frank Lampard could think of giving the striker a chance, considering he is still only 22.

Valentin Castellanos

Valentin Castellanos is one of the names who have been linked with a number of clubs in the Premier League, including Everton.

The 23-year-old is having a good time in the MLS where he has already netted seven times and provided an assist in just 11 outings for New York City.

Steven Bergwijn

Steven Bergwijn has also been strongly linked to the Toffees recently as he has struggled for minutes under Antonio Conte at Tottenham Hotspur.

Out of all the three strikers who have been linked with Everton, we feel that the Dutch international will be the best fit for the Liverpool-based outfit despite him being the most expensive one as well.

The reason is that he can prove beneficial in multiple systems. If the former Chelsea manager wants to play on the counter-attack, he can deploy the former PSV man as a false nine and always give opponent defenders something to worry about.

In other Everton news, the Blues could be forced into a big sale as Alisher Usmanov’s name is mentioned in a transfer report.
