Harry Redknapp tells Everton to ‘gamble’ on Gareth Bale signing
Everton should “take a little gamble” this summer and try to sign Gareth Bale on a free transfer, according to Harry Redknapp.
Bale is set to leave Real Madrid after nine years at the Bernabeu later this month when his contract expires, and he is looking for a new club after helping Wales reach the World Cup for the first time since 1958.
And after keeping the Toffees in the Premier League in the 2021/22 season by the skin of their teeth, Frank Lampard has been told by his uncle Harry live on talkSPORT that he should make a move to bring the 32-year-old to Goodison Park.

“I would take a gamble with him if I was in the Premier League,” he said.
“I think when he went to Tottenham, he didn’t really get the chance to play. He didn’t get a run. It seemed as though it wasn’t Jose’s (Mourinho) choice (to sign him).
“If I was an Everton or Leeds. Good clubs. That take gambles. I would take a little gamble on him.
“The wages are a problem. But if he wants to play, then he’s not going to get £600k-a-week anymore. Those days are finished. He has had that. He doesn’t need it. I still think he can do it at the top level for another year.”
Risk
Everton are absolutely not in a position to make a gamble of that type right now, especially after last season.
Obviously Bale is supremely talented and would walk into the Toffees side as the best player in the squad, but his wages would be astronomical even if he took a massive pay cut and at 32 he is at the wrong end of the age scale.

Lampard must prioritise building a squad in his image to improve upon the end of the season they had in 2021/22, not target the biggest name and hope that it can carry them to safety again.
Another issue with Bale is that he is clearly solely motivated by Wales at the moment rather than whatever club he is turning out for, and that could see them suffer in the second half of the season once the World Cup is over.
It’s not something that the club should do and Redknapp is setting his nephew up for failure by even suggesting it.
