Everton want more than £51.2m for Richarlison amid Tottenham interest, good chance deal happens

Tottenham are interested in signing Everton forward Richarlison this summer and there is a “good chance” the deal could happen, according to David Ornstein [June 11].

Reports on Saturday [June 11] claimed that the two clubs were in “advanced negotiations” over a £51.2m deal with contracts already discussed according to Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade.

But a fresh report from The Athletic claims that the Toffees would want more than that amount to allow Richarlison to leave the club this summer, although there is an acceptance that sales must be made.

The Brazilian winger is among a number of options that Tottenham have and they will only make a move if they deem the price to be reasonable.

However sources told The Athletic that the move has a “good chance of happening in this window,” with the chances of Everton getting more than that reported amount seen as unlikely.

Ouch

The club’s financial position has put the team in serious jeopardy of being picked apart by the richer clubs in the league, which could make the new season a real problem.

At least one big sale looks almost guaranteed this summer, with Richarlison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin attracting the most interest from rival clubs in deals that would be £50m+.

However with other clubs knowing the situation that the Toffees are in, it puts them at a real disadvantage in negotiations. With Richarlison quite open about wanting to leave too, that also doesn’t help.

It would be remarkably difficult to replace the 25-year-old as it is with the market the way it is, but doing so on a budget would be even tougher.

Now though that could end up becoming a realistic need for the team and Frank Lampard as they look to avoid another season of battling against relegation.
