Sky Sports pundit confident that Dominic Calvert-Lewin doesn’t follow Richarlison out of Everton
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is going nowhere if Richarlison leaves Everton as expected, according to ex-Toffees captain Kevin Campbell.
Both the club’s main attacking threats have been subject to heavy transfer speculation for the duration of 2022, but despite hopes he would stay the Brazilian has now made clear to the club he plans to go, according to Guardian journalist Fabrizio Romano‘s clarification of the player’s words to Globo Esporte, so he looks to be closer to the exit.
He had the stronger season despite the mess at Goodison so it’s no surprise that his move looks to be next, but Sky Sports pundit Campbell doesn’t think English striker Calvert-Lewin can also be let walk so he should instead focus on playing for the Toffees and getting back to fitness after a season wrecked by injury.

“I think that [exit] speculation is over. Dominic Calvert-Lewin, he needs to get playing,” he told Goodison News.
“That’s the most important thing. You know, he’s had an horrific last season.
“Finished on a high, obviously scoring the goal [that secured top flight safety], but he played sparingly, was injured a lot.
“So he’s got to get back to doing what he does best, get out there and score goals, and be a threat.
“So I think Frank Lampard will want to work with him.”

The magnificent diving header that the former England international produced to score the winning goal against Crystal Palace in the key game [19 May] was a glimpse of the player he was before a nightmare campaign.
There may be interest still through the summer, but unless Lampard has two achievable top-level targets in his sights he is sure to want to keep hold of at least one of his pair of star forwards.
If the rebuild under the former Chelsea boss goes the way that is hoped, and Calvert-Lewin’s fitness returns, he is set to be the main man at Goodison again and his goals will be needed to fire the club back towards the European conversation.
In other Everton news, the club were forced to take the highest sponsor offer despite the criticism it would bring due to their financial woes.
