Frank Lampard gushes over Kevin Thelwell ‘huge’ impact at Everton

Frank Lampard has branded Kevin Thelwell’s appointment at Everton a “huge plus” as he looks to transform the club ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.

The Blues’ Director of Football filled the role following Marcel Brands’ departure after several controversial transfer decisions.

With the duo still very much finding their feet with the Toffees, the former Chelsea boss is “hungry” to do his best with Thelwell’s arrival only aiding that goal.

He said as per The Guardian: “My personal relationships with the owner, with Denise and the chairman [Bill Kenwright], have absolutely stayed the same – they have been rock solid.

“Through moments like pre-Man United when people were questioning whether I would stay at the club. The conversations behind the scenes were of absolute support, of ‘What do we need to get to where we want to be?’ and that is still the same now.

“A huge plus for me has been working with Kevin. Kevin coming in has helped me and is helping the club because he is very much at the centre of things looking at how we can be better across the club.

“We are very close, we are very open, we are two new people coming into the job and we are hungry for the best and we are working very well. That has been a big help for me.”

Learning curve.

Everything is set up now for Everton to kick it up a notch and never look back after their 2021/22 nightmare.

Everton

It was absolutely soul-destroying watching the Blues flirt so closely with relegation but hopefully, it was exactly the wake-up call they needed.

For far too long a catalogue of terrible mistakes by the Toffees’ chiefs forced the club into the mess it is in today but there are no more excuses.

Brands, the man who took the flack for all of the terrible calls made over the last few years has gone and surely Farhad Moshiri has learnt from his seemingly endless blunders.

The club are in the very safe hands of Lampard and Thelwell now and if they are to transform the Merseyside outfit – the pair must be allowed to have full reign.

Lampard is clearly confident with his Director of Football and Moshiri needs to keep his nose out of the football side of the business before Everton are back to square one.
