Everton fans overwhelmingly vote for one key position to be filled ahead of 2022/23

Everton supporters have sent a stark message to Farhad Moshiri and co as to where to reinvest his money in the squad in the summer transfer window.

Frank Lampard is in the midst of a major rebuild ahead of the 2022/23 season after surviving the 2021/22 relegation battle nightmare.

According to a 90min report on Wednesday [8 June], the Blues are to confirm their first signing of the window imminently with James Tarkowski set to undergo a medical.

With plenty of players leaving Goodison Park already and more potentially set to follow – it is imperative the Toffees replace them.

The question was posed to 2,700 Evertonians as to what position the next signing should fill and it is safe to say the vote was a landslide.

A whopping 76% of fans believe that a midfielder needs to be added to the squad ahead of next season.

Strengthen.

The fans have spoken and you would find it hard not to agree with them. With Tarkowski coming through the door, Everton are fairly bolstered at the back now.

With Yerry Mina, Mason Holgate, Ben Godfrey, Michael Keane and youngsters for example Jarrad Branthwaite, Lampard has more than enough options.

The quality of some of them has and will continue to come under question but they are present in the squad nonetheless.

With senior central midfielders Fabian Delph and Gylfi Sigurdson having left as well as Manchester United loanee Donny van de Beek set to follow them out of Finch Farm, the Toffees are desperate to replace them.

That is before you consider the poor quality of the midfielders that are already in the squad.

There is no doubt whatsoever that the midfield is the weakest area of the squad and with it being one of the most important – it is crucial it is improved on ahead of next season.

Moshiri simply has to listen to this request.
