Everton takeover could quickly turn into a £900m deal suggests journo

A potential £500millin Everton takeover by former Chelsea and Manchester United CEO Peter Kenyon could actually reach over £900million, according to the Liverpool Echo’s David Powell.

The Telegraph revealed on Monday 13 June, that Kenyon is eyeing a bid for Everton.

The report also suggested that Farhad Moshiri is looking for in-excess of £500million for the club.

However, Powell believes that figure could be nearer the £900million mark for any new owner.

Writing in the Liverpool Echo on Tuesday 14 June, he said: “The fact that a new stadium is already moving through the gears is appealing, although any new owner will take on a project where much of the funding for it still needs to be found.

“That kind of heavy capital expenditure so early on means that a £500m deal can quickly turn into one that costs £900m, with Bramley Moore Dock’s development set to cost at least £500m.”

Never a dull moment

There is never a dull moment at Goodison Park is there?

Whether it’s a manager being sacked or transfer rumour or in this case a potential takeover.

There seems to be a lot going on all at once at Goodison Park at the moment and it’s important Frank Lampard doesn’t let that impact his preparations for the new season.

The Everton boss has to try and put all the boardroom talk to the back of his mind and work astutely alongside Kevin Thelwell to put the Toffees in the best position to prevent their horror 2021/22 season from happening again.

It would be a surprise to see Moshiri sell the club with their new Bramley Moore Dock stadium in construction.

However, looking long-term, maybe fresh ownership at the Goodison Park could be welcomed to align with the changes that are occurring on the pitch.

Any deal for the Toffees will be unlikely to be concluded any time soon and it’s important that these rumours don’t rumble on throughout the summer.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to seal a major summer signing and the player is already on his way to England.
