Farhad Moshiri would ‘ideally’ keep 10% Everton stake if Peter Kenyon completes takeover

Farhad Moshiri would “ideally” retain part ownership of Everton Football Club if Peter Kenyon’s takeover bid is successful, according to The Athletic.

The Telegraph reported on 13 June that Kenyon, the former Manchester United and Chelsea chief executive, had put together a consortium to buy the Toffees for a reported fee of £500million.

But the same publication claimed a day later (14 June) that the consortium, which has significant backing from Maciek Kaminski, would need to also have another £500million readily available for the completion of the new Bramley-Moore Dock Stadium, taking the total fee to £1billion.

Despite the eye-watering numbers being thrown about though, The Athletic reports that Moshiri would ideally like to retain a 10% stake in the football club should the details of the takeover be ironed out.

With talks at such an early stage, it is yet to be seen if his demands and ideas are echoed by the consortium or any other interested parties for that matter.

The Athletic’s report on 15 June says: “The Athletic understands that, ideally, the former accountant would retain a 10 per cent stake in the club after any potential takeover, but it remains to be seen if his conditions and valuation of the club are shared by any of the interested parties.”

Can’t shake him

No matter who comes in and tries to buy the club, it seems like Moshiri might not go away for good.

Surely he would be happy to take a cool £500million away for himself and retire to the Caribbean or Monaco where he can relax and enjoy his life without the stress of running a football club.

That enormous sum of money would be enough for every single person who attended an Everton game at Goodison Park last season to retire on the spot but he could get it all for himself.

We’re not quite sure what he would be covering himself from in keeping a 10% stake but surely he has splashed enough of his own cash on Merseyside to no avail now.

It is time he walked away from the club having seen no improvement at all despite the vast wealth he has invested because he clearly isn’t the right fit for us at this moment in time.

In other Everton news, Newcastle United have been forced to withdraw from the race to sign one of Frank Lampard’s main men as they don’t have the funds to make a deal happen.
