Harry Redknapp can see Everton struggling again next season and moots lack of investment

Harry Redknapp thinks Everton will be “struggling again” next season and suggests that Frank Lampard may not have any money to spend.

Lampard will be looking to conduct major surgery on his Everton side this summer with the Toffees looking to avoid a repeat of their horrific 2021/22 season.

However, Redknapp, who is Lampard’s uncle, believes the Toffees will be struggling again next season.

Talking on talkSPORT Breakfast on Tuesday 14 June, Redknapp said: “If Frank has no money to spend, he is going to have to sell.

“Sometimes you have to sell your best player to try and get two or three in.”

He added: “He [Lampard] needs to strengthen that team.

“That team that Everton have got at the moment, they are going to struggle.

“I am desperate for them [Everton] to do well, I kicked every ball with Frank this season, but I think they are going to be struggling again.”

Not encouraging from Redknapp

At present, it is easy to see why the former Spurs manager believes the Toffees will struggle.

Lampard has a huge challenge on his hands this summer to restructure the recruitment policies at Goodison Park to start making more street-wise decisions in the transfer market.

With the Toffees yet to make any moves in the window it is clear why Redknapp believes they will struggle heading into the new season.

However, if Lampard can generate some reasonable transfer fees for the likes of Richarlison and potentially Dominic Calvert-Lewin, then maybe he could stand a chance of rebuilding the squad in the manner he sees fit.

The Everton manager needs to weigh up the importance of players like Richarlison to Everton and assess whether the Toffees would be better off utilising potential revenue around the squad or instead keep their star man.

Lampard is still relatively new to management and this summer at Everton will be the biggest challenge he is yet to face.

In other Everton news, the Toffees have submitted a bid to seal a major summer signing and the player is already on his way to England.
