Everton have time to enter fray for Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout
Everton reportedly have the time to enter the negotiations to sign Roma and French midfielder Jordan Veretout this summer.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, AC Milan and Marseille are keen on signing the 29-year-old, but there appears to be some haggling over the valuation of the player.
This leaves time for the Toffees to swoop in and offer a fee in the region of £13million in order to sign the Les Bleus international. [Calciomercato]
Veretout may be a goal-scoring midfielder – something that this Everton side lacks, but he is not going to be there for the long term.
He’s also got no experience of playing in the Premier League and for someone nearing the age of 30, it’s not going to be easy to adapt.
By the time he finds his footing in the English top flight, he will no longer have the legs he does now and this will be a waste of everyone’s time.
Ligue 1 and Serie A are better suited for the 29-year-old as they’re technical and slower leagues and it’s not a million miles an hour like it is in the English top flight.
Kevin Thelwell and Frank Lampard need to look elsewhere and preferably sign someone who’s got Premier League experience or will be a good fit to play in it.
Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Winks springs to mind but they need to hurry up with their negotiations and sign some players quickly.
They will be announcing their first signing at the end of next week, which is good news, but they’re still lagging behind some of the other teams around them in the league.
