Leeds United and Burnley drop Everton complaint to Premier League as financial details emerge

Burnley and Leeds United have dropped their complaint to the Premier League about Everton, according to the Daily Mail.

The newspaper reported via their print edition on Friday (1 July, page 74) that the Clarets and the Whites wrote to the Premier League as they tried to sue for £200million over the “failure to take action against Everton’s spending”.

It is understood that Burnley and Leeds have since been shown documents that prove the Toffees have complied with the Premier League’s spending rules.

One bit of good news

The complaints of Burnley and Leeds were never going to lead to anything.

Everton have been working with the Premier League to ensure they don’t break any Financial Fair Play rules because they know that they’ve been running it tight at Goodison Park.

Farhad Moshiri’s terrible management of the club has led us to a situation where we’re having to sell off our best players in order to bring new ones in.

It’s also led to an ever-increasing drop in quality to the side that culminated in a close brush with relegation to the Championship last season.

Everton

Everton’s finances are bound to be a mess but for now, at least we can safely say they’re not breaking any rules because otherwise, Leeds and Burnley would be all over this.

The only reason they brought anything up was to probably cause some tension behind the scenes at Goodison Park at a vital time in the season while it was no doubt also seen as a way to try and justify their terrible seasons.

But now, that case is closed and everyone can get on with their own lives.
