Everton negotiate deal for Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao

Everton are currently “negotiating” a deal for Udinese defender Rodrigo Becao, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Writing on his website, the Sky Italia journalist, reported on 2 July that the Toffees are in talks to sign the 26-year-old centre-back. The two clubs are not close yet to reaching an agreement for the defender.

Frank Lampard is keen to bolster his defence this summer and has earmarked the Brazilian for that role.

Everton

Fingers crossed

Tutto Udinese reported on 16 June that the Toffees were showing keen interest in the player, but they could face competition from Tottenham Hotspur.

It seems, Everton have now registered a concrete interest and are keen to land him.

The Brazilian defender, who joined the Italian club from CSKA Moscow in 2019, has played 102 matches in all competitions. Becao still has a two-year left on his contract, and Udinese are expected to demand a high transfer fee for him.

He was one of the consistent performers for Udinese last season, and the defender would be a superb addition to the side. The defender would be a major addition, and he would add depth and quality to the side.

Having already signed James Tarkowski, it seems Lampard is still looking to make more additions in that department. Becao will become the second summer signing of the summer if the deal goes through.

If the Toffees manage to sign the Brazilian, he could offload some of his players. Yerry Mina is most likely to be allowed to leave the club in that case.

The Colombian is arguably the club’s best defender when he is fit, but he’s too injury-prone.
