Sky Sports pundit warns Everton to fix other needs before move to sign Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Everton have bigger needs than exit-bound Chelsea star Hakim Ziyech in this window despite reported interest says Kevin Campbell.
The Moroccan winger is available this summer as Fabrizio Romano confirmed on 24 June, and his former manager at Stamford Bridge, Frank Lampard, is interested in a reunion according to former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones, speaking to Give Me Sport two days earlier on 22 June.
The 29-year-old has undoubted ability, which has flashed at times since he came to the Premier League, but Sky Sports pundit Campbell believes that since his fee and his wages won’t come cheap the club have greater priorities and need to spend what money they do have this window elsewhere.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think he’s a quality player, definitely a quality player.
“For the package, what it’s going to be, I don’t know.
“I think Everton have got quite a few needs and for me Hakim Ziyech isn’t a big need right now.
“Obviously he’s a quality player but fixing that midfield, getting some defenders in, I think that’s really the priority.
“And probably another forward with obviously Richarlison gone, they’re going to need another forward in to help Dominic Calvert-Lewin.”

It appears that AC Milan are in the driving seat to capture the enigmatic wide man [Sky Sports] but as they may be favouring a loan and need the wages reduced themselves it could make a move viable for Lampard.
Campbell is certainly right that wide midfield isn’t at the top of the list of players that need to be brought in, although he could provide some better service for Calvert-Lewin, even if he isn’t right up alongside him.
A potential move looks a long shot at this point unless a move to Italy falls through.
