David Ornstein: Kevin Thelwell has good relationship with £30m-rated Morgan Gibbs-White as Everton show late interest
Everton are showing late interest in Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White who previously held a good relationship with the Toffees’ director of football Kevin Thelwell according to The Athletic.
Thelwell previously worked with the 22-year-old during his time at Wolves and the Toffees are looking to rival Nottingham Forest for the midfielder.
The Athletic’s Steve Madeley and David Ornstein reported on Tuesday 5 July that Everton are looking to reinvest their £60million Richarlison transfer fee and that Wolves are looking for £30million for the attacking midfielder.
Gibbs-White was offered a contract extension at the end of the 2021/22 season but has yet to agree on new terms with his current deal entering its final two years.
Get it done
Thelwell and Frank Lampard have to be doing everything possible to finalise a deal for the 22-year-old Wolves man.
He is exactly the type of player that the club need to be targeting as the Toffees look to kickstart a new line of recruitment this summer.
Gibbs-White has proven himself to be too good for the Championship and at 22 there is every chance that he will develop further when he is properly given a Premier League chance.

This move could be the first sign of Thelwell stamping his authority on proceedings at Goodison Park this summer.
If Everton do secure a move for the former Sheffield United man, then they will have the director of football to thank for instigating a move.
Furthermore, it will indicate that the Toffees are reinvesting the Richarlison transfer fee in the right manner.
Wolves will certainly be willing to sell the youngster if he won’t come to new terms at Molineux, with his value only likely to decrease significantly next season.
