Sky Sports pundit unimpressed by Tottenham demands for ‘mustard’ Everton star Anthony Gordon

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Everton star Anthony Gordon is “going nowhere” according to Kevin Campbell despite Tottenham’s attempts to sign him this summer.

The young winger was part of an attempted package deal with Richarlison who has gone to north London, and Neil Moxley has since reported in the Sunday Mirror that Spurs want to use the still-pending Dele Alli fee to pick the 21-year-old up on the cheap.

After selling the Brazilian there is less pressure on another player’s futures if the club want to keep them, which the indications are that the Toffees do in this case, and Sky Sports pundit Campbell is not impressed by the overtures from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for someone he says has “massive future” at Everton.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “That’s not happening, I’m telling you know, Spurs can try, ‘Oh, we want, we want, we want.’

“Frank Lampard has a young player there who’s proven there’s a connection, he can develop him.

“And for once Everton don’t need to sell him.

“They’ve got to develop this kid. He’s mustard. I think he’s got a massive future at Everton.

“He’s a Blue as well. He’s going nowhere.”

Newcastle has since joined in the race to try to change that position with a £35million approach discussed, but this one feels like more than just a transfer deal.

The ownership at Goodison are not the fans’ favourite people already, and it would represent far more than just a young player being sold for a big offer if Gordon was let go.

It feels like as the break-out star of a dismal season and a local lad to boot he is symbolic of the club’s future and if he went there would be plenty who might feel like that was leaving with him.
