Everton fans call for Farhad Moshiri to sell up in Finch Farm protests

Everton fans have staged a protest at the club’s Finch Farm training ground, leaving banners calling for owner Farhad Moshiri to sell up.

Moshiri bought 49.9% of the club club in 2016 and increased his stake to 94% in January of this year, and has pumped in over £500m to the club to help fund a new stadium and new signings for the first-team squad.

But after a shocking season in 2021/22 saw them narrowly avoid relegation to the Championship, fans have clearly had enough and sent him and club chairman Bill Kenwright a message on the gates at the club’s training ground.

In images shared by Twitter account EvertonHub on July 11, three banners can be seen attached to the front of the training ground calling for changes in the board room to take place.

One banner said “Kenwright and co time to go,” while another said “Moshiri sell up.” There was a third banner that said, “Our motto is our standards” showing that the club have had enough of battling with mediocrity.

Nil Satis Nisi Optimum

Nothing but the best is good enough. Plain and simple. It’s the motto of the club and there’s a reason for that, because it’s what the fans demand.

Moshiri obviously pumped millions of pounds into the club and brought Everton into the present with plans for the new stadium, but throwing money at the problem simply isn’t enough.

He’s made wrong decision after wrong decision, and the club need someone in charge who really cares and knows how to run a football club rather than a business.

We need football people in charge and that means a complete reset at the top of Everton Football Club, sooner rather than later before even more damage gets done.

Something must change and Everton fans have decided that those changes must begin at the top. Now it’s down to the board to convince them otherwise, or step aside for the good of everyone.
