Anthony Gordon’s friendship with Morgan Gibbs-White could be essential in chances of drawing the Wolves attacker to Everton.

The Daily Mail reported (12 July) that the Toffees remain interested in the 22-year-old despite having a £25million bid rejected by Wolves.

However, if the England under-21 international needs any convincing of where his next move should be then he certainly has plenty of connections at Goodison Park.

Gordon has previously featured regularly with Gibbs-White in England’s under-21 set-up and posted a picture of the pair on his Instagram story of the pair whilst on international duty in June.

Furthermore, Gibbs-White is close with director of football Kevin Thelwell from their time together at Wolves.

Everton may not need to do much to convince Gibbs-White to make the move to Merseyside but their connections to the 22-year-old will certainly stand the Toffees in good stead to get a deal over the line this summer.

Gordon and Gibbs-White on Everton’s books would some statement from the club hierarchy and a clear indication that things have changed at Goodison Park over the summer.

Gibbs-White enjoyed a superb loan spell at Sheffield United in the 2021/22 season and is deserving of a shot at regular minutes Premier League in the 2022/23 season.

With his Wolves deal entering its final two years there is certainly a chance for Everton to capitalise on a value deal for the attacking midfielder.

This would be the statement signing that would certainly raise the mood amongst Evertonians after a slow start to the summer window.
