Sky Sports pundit believes Everton and Tottenham business could continue with Japhet Tanganga

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Doing business with Tottenham is “not too difficult” for Everton so could continue with Japhet Tanganga according to Kevin Campbell.

The Toffees are after the defender on loan as they look to replace Jonjoe Kenny [Gianluigi Longari].

Spurs bought Brazilian star Richarlison at the end of June following drawn-out talks during which The Mirror reported that Daniel Levy was driving a “hard bargain” thanks to the financial pressures at Goodison, and while various other players mooted for switches between the two they have not happened, suggesting hard work negotiating with the London club.

Some felt the Toffees got a raw deal on the Richarlison sale but Sky Sports pundit Campbell feels differently and sees no reason why the two sides can’t do further business this summer, with only logistical barriers now the main issue during preseason.

Everton

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News he said: “I think it’s up to Frank Lampard, who he’s looking for to strengthen the squad.

“I think that’s the most important thing, I don’t think Levy’s very difficult to deal with.

“They got the Richarlison deal done didn’t they? So he’s not too difficult to deal with when everybody can agree.

“I think the key is being linked with and actually signing players is different.

“Obviously Everton are out in America right now. It’ll be interesting to see if any actual move can be made for Tanganga.

“Because Tanganga’s gone in, he’s played his games, he’s got his minutes under his belt at Spurs last season.

“It will be interesting to see if Frank Lampard can add him to the squad.”

Everton

Anthony Gordon was another name that Tottenham appeared to feel they could take advantage of the Everton situation to sign, something which Campbell was unimpressed by.

And Harry Winks was someone that was thought to be easy to do a deal on with buy-in from all sides, but that looks to now be on the back-burner.

If a Tanganga deal suits Spurs then of course there is no reason why it can’t happen, and he looks like a sensible option for Lampard, but as soon as there is a difference of opinion between the two sides, recent history suggest the chances of success will fall.
