Everton chief Farhad Moshiri has promised transfers, but now he must deliver

Everton majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri promised fans that new signings are coming, but now he must finally deliver a promise.

The club has had an underwhelming transfer window so far, with James Tarkowski being the only senior player coming in and star man Richarlison being sold to Tottenham.

In a rare official statement on Thursday evening (14 July), Moshiri promised fans that signings were coming but asked fans for time and to judge them at the end of the window.

“There will be new signings and I would ask supporters to judge us at the end of the transfer window – not now – and to listen to official club channels for information,” the statement read.

What he does not realise however is that he is out of time and fans are out of patience.

Get a move on

Fans are still reeling from last season, which saw the club narrowly avoid relegation from the Premier League, as well as the recent sale of Richarlison.

It has been a very difficult year for The Toffees, but there was hope that survival and the arrival of Frank Lampard would see the squad overhauled this summer.

That has not transpired, although the club is currently chasing Wolves midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White according to the Daily Mail.

Moshiri’s reign as owner has been defined by transfers, with TalkSport finding back in May that the club has spent over £500million on new signings over the last six years.

However, few of these have genuinely paid off with the likes of Yannick Bolasie, Cenk Tosun and Moise Kean proving to be expensive disasters.

Last summer saw a few rays of light, with Demarai Gray and Vitaly Mykolenko impressing after arriving for modest fees, but it is still not enough.

If Moshiri truly wants to deliver on his promise, then the club must start supporting Lampard with smart signings or face yet more backlash from fans.
