Billy Gilmour could leave Chelsea permanently as Everton circle for transfer
Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour could be allowed to leave on a permanent deal this summer, with Everton plotting a bid after he was axed from their tour.
Gilmour was initially part of the Chelsea squad in the USA but was axed and sent to train with the Under-23’s by Thomas Tuchel on Monday afternoon, alongside other youth players who are set for loan moves away.
But while it was initially believed that the Blues could allow the Scotland international to leave on loan, the Evening Standard [July 18] say it could be a permanent transfer instead with his contract set to expire in 2024.

After being axed from the tour alongside Harvey Vale and Tino Anjorin, journalist Nizaar Kinsella wrote;
“Gilmour could now leave Chelsea permanently this summer, with the other two in talks with various Championship clubs over loan moves.”
Reinforcements
Everton need midfielders, and ideally midfielders that Lampard trusts to play his way so that he can implement a style.
Gilmour may be very young still, but during their brief time together at Chelsea he showed a very high level and quickly became one of Lampard’s favourites in the holding role.

A cheap deal is there to be completed, with the player clearly not in the plans of Thomas Tuchel at Stamford Bridge and it would be a piece to add to the jigsaw of what the manager is trying to build.
It would also add to the new strategy of signing young, hungry players that the manager and club can develop into better players – as seen with the pursuits of Keane Lewis-Potter, Morgan Gibbs-White and Maxwel Cornet this summer.
Gilmour would be a pretty low-risk loan signing, but if a deal is there to be done permanently then it’s definitely something Everton should be exploring to bolster their squad.
