Everton could sign Billy Gilmour from Chelsea in next 48 hours – Fraser Fletcher
Everton could seal a deal to sign Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour in the next 48 hours as negotiations continue, according to Fraser Fletcher.
The Scottish international was axed from Chelsea’s first-team tour on Monday, suggesting that Thomas Tuchel doesn’t have a place for him in his first-team squad and an exit is likely.
Now former BBC journalist Fletcher says negotiations between the two Blues are continuing as Frank Lampard loves the player and a deal could be done later this week.
Whether it’s a loan or a permanent deal is unclear, with several reports claiming a temporary exit is more likely while the Evening Standard report a permanent exit is possible.
Everton are due back from their pre-season tour of America on Thursday, and business could begin to ramp up once they return.

Gilmour is a Lampard favourite from their time together at Stamford Bridge, and it would be a surprise to nobody if the Scot ends up at Goodison Park this season.
His ability to play in the holding role and dictate the tempo of a game, despite his diminutive size and stature is something Lampard absolutely loves and Everton massively lack in midfield.

At just 21-years-old he has his whole career ahead of him and he has shown on big stages that he has the quality to compete at the highest level.
A loan deal would be low risk and save the club money to be able to bolster other areas of the squad, but a permanent deal would mean the club are tying down a young, talented player for years to come.
It would go some way towards their new strategy and with Lampard looking to implement his own style for the new season, it could be the perfect signing for the midfield.
