Everton get green light to chase Billy Gilmour loan deal
Frank Lampard has been given the green light to try and sign Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour on loan at Everton, according to talkSPORT.
The Toffees boss has been keen to utilise his connections at Stamford Bridge, being the Blues’ record goalscorer, to make new signings at Goodison Park and this could be his first foray into that relationship.
Things have been tough for Everton in pre-season and it hit rock bottom in a 4-0 defeat to Minnesota United and Lampard has used that result to try and force Farhad Moshiri to make funds available for him to use.

The club’s majority shareholders has accepted the challenge and allowed the club to start making moves to bring the Scottish midfielder, who Ally McCoist thinks is “absolutely top-class” [Daily Record], to the club.
Gilmour was given his Premier League debut by Lampard while he was in charge of Chelsea and talkSPORT believe he is keen to reunite with him on Merseyside.
Dictator
The midfield has always been a problem area for Everton and last season saw that issue come to the forefront with Fabian Delph and Alex Iwobi ending the season as the first choice in the engine room.

But Lampard wants more than just workhorses to charge about in the middle of the park, he needs someone who is comfortable to dictate the tempo and the terms of the game.
That is what Gilmour would bring to the side if he joins on loan from Chelsea and would finally allow the Toffees to have a sense of control on each game they play rather than waiting for something to happen.
He’s not just a show pony though who can only make an impact on the ball, his tenacious pressing and small stature means he is incredibly agile and that allows him to scamper around and win the ball back off his opposite number and that is why he needs to be signed before we take on Chelsea on the opening day.
