Dominic King slams Goodison Park hierarchy after Everton 4-0 preseason defeat
The Daily Mail’s Dominic King has slammed the hierarchy at Goodison Park after Everton succumbed to an awful 4-0 preseason defeat to Minnesota United.
The Toffees have endured a miserable summer thus far with two defeats on their American tour as well as only adding one player to their ranks.
King believes that Lampard is not responsible due to the conditions he is working under at present.
Talking on talkSPORT Breakfast on Friday 21 July, King said: “That result was absolutely shocking and couldn’t have come at a worse possible time.
“This is nothing on Frank and nothing on his coaching staff.
“Right now it’s like a carpenter working with blunt tools, it’s impossible.
“He is desperately in need of reinforcements and 4-0 in Minnesota will have fans that are angry and frustrated even more upset.”
Concerning times
These are really concerning times for Everton and Lampard, and their 4-0 defeat in the US is actually not that surprising.
The Toffees weren’t a good side at the end of last season and losing their best player and not replacing him is only going to make them weaker.
James Tarkowski looks like a good signing but ultimately the Toffees are still a long way short of where they need to be heading into the 2022/23 Premier League season.
Concern is completely justified among Evertonians at the moment with the lack of transfer business really starting to impact Lampard’s preseason preparations.

Whether it is a lack of funding or poor negotiating from the club hierarchy, something needs to change at Goodison Park quickly.
There is a glimmer of light with Everton in talks with Burnely wing-back Maxwel Cornet, but a deal still looks some way off.
Right now, Everton have to be one of the favourites to be embroiled in a relegation battle again next season.
Nottingham Forest and Leeds United have left the Toffees floundering a long way behind in terms of transfer business to date.
