Everton lose transfer battle as Kim Min-Jae set for Napoli medical

Everton have reportedly lost the race to sign Fenerbahce defender Kim Min-Jae as he appears set to join Napoli.

On June 10, Fanatik journalist Gokmen Ozcan claimed that the Toffees were among many teams keen on signing the South Korea international and then referenced that on his Twitter to state that Napoli has won the race to sign him.

It’s understood that the Serie A side will pay £17million for his transfer and he’s set to have his medical there by this weekend. [Calcio Napoli]

Via Twitter, Ozcan wrote, “Kim has a 20 million euro exit option. Napoli, Tottenham, Everton, Inter, Rennes, Newcastle and Monaco want Kim Min Jae. The player with the highest number of bidders in Turkey is Kim We can say it is.

“Fenerbahce will earn 20 million Euros (£17million) from the transfer of Kim Min Jae to Napoli.”

Done deal

The 25-year-old has been a player that’s been on the Toffees radar for some time but they have ended up losing the race to sign him.

Given the kind of clubs keen on him, it was always going to be difficult to sign him, especially with the lack of European football and performances of last season.

The best chance for them to sign Min-Jae would’ve been if all the interested teams would’ve cooled their interest in him but that did not happen.

It’s time that Everton move on to other targets as they’re lagging behind compared to teams around them in the Premier League.

Leeds United and newly-promoted Nottingham Forest have already made a plethora of signings and look in better shape than the Toffees ahead of next season.

However, there appears to be some hope for Frank Lampard as the club are likely to agree to personal terms over a mega £30million transfer.
