Cardiff keep close eye on Everton striker Ellis Simms
Cardiff City are one of the clubs that are keeping a close eye on Everton striker Ellis Simms, as per Darren Witcoop.
The Sunday Mirror sports journalist wrote on Twitter on 24 July that several Championship clubs including Cardiff are keeping an eye on the young talent.
In a separate tweet, he added that the Toffees could consider selling him permanently as well.
Strange situation
Hearts were thought to be one of the clubs interested in signing the young striker, but they are almost out of the race for his signature.
The relatively less transfer fee set by the Toffees may not be too much for Championship clubs, but it is out of reach for the Scottish club.

The 21-year-old was impressive last season after he scored seven goals in all competitions during an impressive loan spell at Tynecastle.
The Toffees do need to sign a new striker this summer. They have Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the club’s lone striker, and they are lacking in depth in that department.
Simms could have been a back-up option at the club, but it doesn’t seem like he features in Frank Lampard’s immediate plans.
It comes as a surprise because Lampard is known to be a manager who loves to work with young talents.
Another loan spell away from the club could be ideal for his development, but it won’t come as a big surprise if he leaves the club permanently as well.
