Door open for Everton to sign Emmanuel Dennis after Nottingham Forest give up chase

Everton may have got a window of opportunity to sign Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis.

The Toffees have been linked with a move to sign the Nigerian forward. The Mirror reported on 5 July that the Toffees were preparing a bid for the 24-year-old striker, while The Athletic reported on 4 July that the Hornets are looking to offload up to 18 players and will listen to suitable offers for Dennis.

Nottingham Forest were also interested in signing the attacker, but as per The Daily Mail (25 July), they have backed away from the race.

The Premier League newcomers were expected to make a move for the versatile forward, but that move now appears to be off.

Forest have signed Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, while they are reportedly chasing Burnley forward Maxwel Cornet.

It leaves Everton without one major competitor in the race for Dennis, and they have a very good chance here to secure his signature.

Dennis, who is capable of playing on both right and left in the attacking midfield areas, scored 10 goals and provided six assists in the Premier League last season.

He would be tempted to continue in the Premier League after Watford suffered relegation last season.

Everton desperately need to bolster their attacking departments this summer, but the Toffees are struggling horribly to secure their targets.

As of now, only James Tarkowski has arrived on a free transfer, but Frank Lampard knows more signings are required to avoid a similar story of last season.

They need to fill the void left by Richarlison, and they have a brilliant opportunity here to sign Dennis.
