Sunderland to hold talks to sign Everton forward Nathan Broadhead this week
Sunderland are keen to land Everton forward Nathan Broadhead, according to Darren Witcoop.
The Sunday Mirror journalist wrote on Twitter on 25 July that the Black Cats are likely to make a move for the 24-year-old this week.
Broadhead was one of Sunderland’s stand-out players last season, and it comes as no surprise that they are trying to bring him to Wearside once again.
Good move?
This has been an impressive transfer window for the Black Cats.
Working on a sustainable financial model, they have targeted young players who have the potential to grow.
Having signed players like Leon Dajaku, Daniel Ballard and Aji Alese, the potential move for Broadhead really doesn’t come as a surprise.
As per Sunderland Echo (24 July), they have made contact with Everton already over a potential move.

Broadhead has progressed through the youth ranks at Everton but he never quite made it to the senior team, managing only two appearances.
Last season, he scored 13 goals in 27 appearances for the Black Cats, but it seems it wasn’t enough to convince Frank Lampard that he can be a part of his long-term project.
Clearly, Sunderland feel that Broadhead has the talent to step up to the Championship level.
At 24, Broadhead needs to move to a club that can offer him regular football. His days at Goodison Park are numbered.
