Everton target Ruben Vinagre could be a steal for the Toffees as deal closes
Everton target Ruben Vinagre could be a steal for the Toffees as they close in on a deal for the talented full-back to come to Goodison Park.
A deal for the 23-year-old defender has seemingly moved quickly and been kept cleverly out of the public eye, as Fabrizio Romano reported the Toffees were interested in the full-back and announcing a deal was close to completion within an hour of each other.
However, with a deal now close for the Portuguese full-back, it is clear to see why the Toffees were so keen to get it done under the noses of some of their Premier League competition.
Romano said: “Rúben Vinagre already on Merseyside to undergo medical tests.
“Sporting and Everton are closing in on a loan deal and final details will be resolved on value of buy option clause.
“Vinagre is keen on the move and has already agreed personal terms with Everton.”
He has since declared the move is done, so the whole process went through in extra quick time.
Who is Vinagre?
The defender is mightily experienced in the game for his age, having played for several clubs spanning across four different countries, including England, Portugal and France.
He came through the ranks at Sporting Lisbon and joined Wolves in 2018 on a permanent deal, making 70 appearances for the club.
However, the Midlands clubs loaned Vingare out several times, and he left the club on a permanent deal this summer to rejoin Sporting Lisbon after spending last season on loan at the Verde e Brancos, helping them win the Portuguese League Cup and Super Cup last season.
He is a very explosive full-back, with substantial trickery and imaginative dribbling, as well as possessing extreme speed.
Vinagre, who can also be deployed in a left midfield role, uses his pace and ball control to blow past defenders with ease and create dangerous attacking opportunities for his teammates to benefit from.
The 23-year-old, who has made 55 appearances for Portugal’s various youth teams, could provide good competition for Ukrainian defender Vitaliy Mykolenko, and with both players being the same age and possessing similar offensive styles the position looks locked up for seasons to come.
In other Everton news, the club have reportedly made a move for Guido Rodriguez.
