Ruben Vinagre passes Everton medical, announcement imminent
Everton have completed a deal for Ruben Vinagre to join on loan from Sporting CP after he passed a medical with an announcement expected imminently.
That’s according to Portuguese outlet Record [July 26, 16:35], who initially broke the story of the potential transfer on Monday night [July 25].
The player has agreed to the move and undergone a medical on Merseyside already, and all that is left now is an official announcement which will come “in the next few hours”.

Impressive
Everton have been pretty quiet in the transfer window so far this summer, with only James Tarkowski coming in as a free transfer and no money being spent.
The club have been desperate to strengthen their squad though and director of football Kevin Thelwell has used his connections with the Portuguese full-back from their time together at Wolves to get a deal done quickly.
It also gives plenty of confidence to fans that work is being done behind the scenes, as this deal was never even whispered about prior to this morning and now it’s complete.

Vinagre has Premier League experience but is also still young enough to have plenty of room for improvement. He will provide great competition for Vitalii Mykolenko, who has established himself as the first-choice left-back at the club.
Lampard has been keen to add more depth to his defence and Vinagre does that, while also having experience and qualities to play in both a back four and a back five if necessary.
Now the club can look towards improving the midfield and attack, as well as focusing on outgoings with Niels Nkounkou likely to exit the club following Vinagre’s arrival.
Andre Gomes is also expected to leave now, while Morgan Gibbs-White and Maxwel Cornet are being targeted to come in while Armando Broja remains a target too.
