Everton can complete permanent signing of Ruben Vinagre for £17.6m

Everton can reportedly complete the permanent signing of Ruben Vinagre for £17.6million after agreeing an option to buy with Sporting CP.

According to O Jogo (July 27, Page 2), the Toffees will also be paying his entire salary as they’re set to secure his services on a season-long loan.

It is understood that the 23-year-old has already penned his contract at Goodison Park and will be representing them in the 2022/23 season.

Fair price?

Vinagre had a decent campaign at Wolves and it was not really eye catching, per se, so we will wait and see how this transpires.

Vitaliy Mykolenko enjoyed a terrific run of form under Frank Lampard and we’re expecting him to be the first choice as the season starts.

It does seem a fair price as first-choice left-backs usually cost that much, if not more, and if Vinagre manages to displace the Ukrainian, then he will have done enough.

However, we’re not entirely sure that it will be the case, but it’s good to see Everton using the loan market wisely.

Left-back was a position that lacked depth and they’ve gone out and signed a player there and hopefully, more signings follow.

He becomes the second player after James Tarkowski to pen an Everton deal this summer and it’s another move that’s not going to cost the club too much.

We’re excited to see what sort of impact he has on the rest of the squad.
