Everton in advanced talks to sign Chelsea duo Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi

Everton are in advanced talks to sign Ross Barkley and are also in dialogue to sign striker Michy Batshuayi on a permanent basis according to 90min.

90min has reported on Friday 29 July that 28-year-old Barkley is keen to return to his boyhood club, with only “small details” to finalise before he can return to Goodison Park.

Batshuayi, 28, is also in talks with the Toffees over a permanent switch with Chelsea looking to lower their wage bill heading into the new season.

Everton are also still keen on Armando Broja but a move at present looks unlikely due to Chelsea’s asking price.

Striker problems fixed

Would a move for Batshuayi fix Everton’s striker shortage?

In the short term, a move for the Belgium international does make sense with the striker still able to perform at a high level for at least three more years.

Perhaps a permanent new home could see Batshuayi really find his goalscoring tough after a string of loan spells during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Five loan spells in six years for the 28-year-old has hardly been beneficial for his career going forward.

He is clearly a talented striker and his international record for Belgium is outstanding with 25 goals in 45 games.

Hopefully, a move for the striker will see him replicate his international form on the club stage.

Barkley could be a signing that really brings some positivity back to Goodison Park with the midfielder clearly a popular figure at the club.

A return to Merseyside for Barkley could well be a huge success.
