Everton will be taking big risk in signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi

Everton are interested in signing Chelsea’s veteran striker Michy Batshuayi in the ongoing transfer window, according to 90min.

The Toffees are in the market to sign players to bolster the squad ahead of the next campaign and have been linked with a number of players.

As per the latest report, the Blues are open to letting the 28-year-old leave to reduce their wage bill and Everton are one of the interested clubs.

Jury is out

If you ask the Chelsea fans about Batshuayi, they always will tell you about the goal he scored against West Brom that secured their Premier League title back in 2017 which was their most recent triumph in the domestic league competition.

However, if we look at the player as an individual, we cannot determine what kind of a career he has had. Is it a success or is it something that could have been even better?

He can definitely be a fantastic backup striker like he has proved at Chelsea and even at Borussia Dortmund. However, Everton are in need of a proven goal scorer to work with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, who has question marks over his fitness as well.

By the look of things, the Belgium international does not have a terrible record when it comes to fitness concerns but signing him will be nothing short of a gamble for the Merseyside club, that too at a time when they require assurance in the final third after the departure of Richarlison.

Farhad Moshiri must do more.
