Everton expected to make late flurry of new signings – Dean Jones

Everton are ready to make a “late flurry of signings” in the ongoing transfer window, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Toffees have been rather slow in the transfer window where they’ve only managed to sign three players — James Tarkowski, Rúben Vinagre and Dwight McNeil.

However, Jones, while speaking to Give Me Sport, suggested that the Merseyside club are likely to sign two players from Chelsea including midfielder Ross Barkley and Michy Batshuayi.

“Everton are expecting a late flurry of business,” he said.

“So in situations like that, you’re going to turn to places where you can strike a deal. So I think both [Barkley and Batshuayi] are pretty likely.”

Key Additions

The additions of Barkley and Batshuayi would be welcoming for Lampard. The three players they have signed so far in this summer window are of good quality but clearly, they need more.

The likes of Barkley and Batshuayi would push the team to the attacking phase. As Barkley prefers to play as an advanced midfielder, he can easily take up the attacking midfield position in front of Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil.

The England international will be the creative spark for the Toffees and will supply through balls and diagonal passes to the likes of Batshuayi, Dominic Calvert Lewin, and Anthony Gordon.

If we talk about Batshuayi, he already knows the Premier League because of his tenure at Chelsea and Crystal Palace.

He was part of the Premier League-winning squad of the Blues in 2017, which remains their latest league title. The Belgium International can prove to be an effective backup for Calvert Lewin.

He has proven that during his time at Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, and Belgium National Team. In those teams, he was second-choice to Diego Costa, Paulo Alcacer, and Romelu Lukaku respectively.
