Everton move for Sasa Kalajdzic could mean Goodison Park exit for Nathan Broadhead is close

Everton are looking to bring Austrian striker Sasa Kalajdzic to Goodison Park and that could well mean Nathan Broadhead’s exit is close.

The Daily Mail reported (6 August) that the Toffees are among a number of clubs chasing the 25-year-old Stuttgart striker.

Broadhead’s future has been subject to plenty of speculation over the past months after his excellent loan spell at Sunderland in the 2021/22 season.

The Northern Echo reported (4 August) that the Black Cats are still pursuing a deal to bring the striker back to the Stadium of Light.

If Everton do manage to get a deal for Kalajdzic over the line then a departure for Broadhead does become more likely with the striker down the pecking order at Goodison Park.

The Toffees shouldn’t stand in the way of the 24-year-old striker after being reluctant to let him leave Goodison Park this summer.

Considering his age, Broadhead needs to be playing regular first-team football and sitting on the bench on Merseyside will do him absolutely no favours going forward.

Unless Frank Lampard wants to entrust Broadhead to be competition to Dominic Calvert-Lewin then the Everton boss has to sanction a move for him this summer.

Lampard simply has to find a new striker in the coming days after Calvert-Lewin’s injury that was sustained in training.

Heading into the new season with a severe lack of attacking options is far from ideal for Everton despite the new additions that have been made.

According to The Guardian’s Fabrizio Romano (via CaughtOffside, 7 August) Amadou Onana is set to undergo his Everton medical on Sunday (7 August) as Lampard adds to his midfielder options.

However, it’s hard to understand why another midfielder has been signed at Goodison Park before a striker has been added to the Toffees’ squad.
