Idrissa Gana Gueye completes first part of Everton medical, two-year deal ready
Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye completed the first part of his Everton medical on Sunday evening [07 August], according to Fraser Fletcher.
The former BBC journalist has reported that a two-year contract is on the table for the Senegalese international ahead of his Goodison Park reunion.
Gana Gueye is likely one of three transfers set to go through this week as Frank Lampard looks for quick additions as the Premier League season got underway.
Writing on his personal Twitter account late on Sunday evening [07 August], Fletcher shared the latest news on yet another transfer close to going through.
“As I said all in place for Gana Gueye to join Everton on two-year deal,” he wrote.
“First part of medical completed tonight. Again, Idrissa Gana Gueye is a Toffee.”
Everton are leaving no stone unturned with getting this deal over the line, with it seemingly taking forever over the past week on Merseyside.
Gana Gueye could be the first of three announced with Amadou Onana and Conor Coady expected to follow through the double doors in a matter of days.
The midfield has been a real issue for years now, with no real defensive presence in that area, something that is set to change immediately.
Lampard has identified that during his time at the club, and Kevin Thelwell has moved quickly to get deals over the line with just some formalities left.
A two-year contract for Gana Gueye also brings him some stability and that should see him settle back into the club immediately with a big role to play.
It is time to get this one, as well as the other two done and announced so they can enjoy days of training and get straight into the action against Aston Villa.
Bring it on.
