Everton may miss out on PSG midfielder Idrissa Gueye with doubts creeping

PSG midfielder Idriss Gueye is reportedly reluctant to return to Everton despite everything appearing to be a done deal.

According to Foot Mercato journalist Sebastien Denis, the 32-year-old is reluctant to say yes to the Toffees and wants some more time to make a decision.

He is aware that he has no future at PSG if he stays as they’ve recently signed Renato Sanches as his replacement.

Via Twitter, Denis wrote, “Despite Onana’s arrival, Everton are still hot on Idrissa Gana Gueye. But the midfielder of PSG is reluctant to say yes to his former club and still wants to give himself time to make the right decision.”

Blessing in disguise?

Everything seemed to be going perfectly for Gueye and his fairytale return to Goodison Park.

He even snubbed a move to Galatasaray and opened talks with the Toffees and it seemed like he wanted the move.

However, this seems to have come from out of the blue and we see no reason why he make a u-turn at the eleventh hour.

It may have something to do with Amadou Onana’s signing as the Belgian is likely to be a regular starter and Gueye will once again have to settle for time on the bench.

The next few hours and days will be interesting and we’re waiting to see if there are any developments.

If not, it could be a blessing in disguise for Everton as they can go for younger options who will be there for the better part of the decade and not just for a season or two.
