Everton register interest in Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, has asked to leave

Everton have contacted Chelsea to register an interest in signing Callum Hudson-Odoi after he asked to leave, according to 90min.

The 21-year-old winger made the request to Chelsea management after being left out of the squad that beat Everton in the opening Premier League game of the season at the weekend.

And with the London club set to grant his wish of a move, Everton are among several clubs to show an interest alongside the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle, West Ham, Leicester and Southampton.

Hudson-Odoi has played under Lampard before when he was manager at Chelsea, and enjoyed a decent campaign although he was recovering from a serious achilles injury.

But now fully fit again he is looking for regular first-team football in his natural winger position ahead of the World Cup this winter, where he is hopeful of representing Ghana.

Fantastic

Everton need pace, goal threat and creativity in attack and Hudson-Odoi provides all of those things, while also fitting in with the type of profile Lampard loves.

He is still very young and has plenty of potential to continue to grow and develop, while his experience at the highest level is something that would undoubtedly be of use to this current squad.

His talent is undeniable and while he hasn’t had the best of times in recent years, he’s struggled with injuries and consistent game time.

If Everton are able to keep him fit for a prolonged period of time, there’s no doubt that he would be able to up the level of the team’s attacking output.

Add his versatility of being able to play on either wing to the mix too, plus his relationship with Lampard, it would seem like a total no brainer for us to bring him to Goodison Park.
