Everton intensify negotiation to sign Rennes forward Serhou Guirassy
Everton have “intensified” negotiation to sign Rennes forward Serhou Guirassy, as per Fabrice Hawkins.
The RTL France journalist shared on Twitter on 10 August that the Toffees have made an opening loan bid with an option to sign the striker permanently.
However, Rennes have rejected the move, as they seek a direct transfer for Guirassy this summer.
Hawkins wrote on Twitter: “Negotiations have intensified in recent hours between Rennes and Everton for the transfer of Serhou Guirassy. First offer from the Toffees: loan with option to buy. The Bretons would like a dry transfer.”
Looks challenging
Benjamin Quarez of Le Parisien reported on Twitter on 10 August that the player is getting closer to the Premier League, and that talks are progressing well.
However, it seems, the Toffees need to come up with a good offer to secure his signature. The question is do they have funds left to complete a direct transfer?
Frank Lampard has signed as many as five new players this summer. The likes of James Tarkowski, Ruben Vinagre, Conor Coady, Amadou Onana and Dwight McNeil have arrived at the club.

However, adding a striker is necessary, and it is a top priority for the club, especially after Dominic Calvert-Lewin got injured in training ahead of the new season.
Lampard is keen to sign Armando Broja from Chelsea but it looks difficult at the moment to pull off a deal for him. Guirassy has scored over double figures in the past two seasons, and the 26-year-old would be a decent signing for the club.
However, as it stands, Rennes won’t entertain any loan offer, and the Toffees will have to come up with a tempting offer to secure his signature.
