Southampton do not want to sell Che Adams amid Everton transfer link

Southampton do not want to sell Che Adams in the transfer window amid interest from Everton, according to a report from talkSPORT.

The Atheltic reported on 10 August that the Toffees are exploring a loan-to-buy deal for Adams, and an approach has been made in the last few days.

While Southampton publicly insist that the player is not for sale, privately they are willing to sanction his departure.

However, TalkSPORT reports that the club have changed their mind on Adams, and they have no intention to cash in on the player this summer.

Move on

Everton badly need to sign a striker this summer. It has become a priority for Frank Lampard, and the Toffees have been linked with a host of players this month.

The Toffees have suffered a big blow already with Dominic Calvert-Lewin currently out injured for four to six weeks.

Frank Lampard currently has no strikers at his disposal, as both Ellis Simms and Lewis Dobbin left the club on loan to gain more experience.

Ideally, the Toffees boss would want someone who has got Premier League experience and can play second fiddle to Calvert-Lewin. At the same time, he can also challenge for the first-team spot as well.

Adams joined the Saints in 2019 and has made 110 appearances scoring 21 goals. He was a prolific striker at Birmingham City and scored 22 goals in the 2018-19 campaign in the Championship.

The Toffees are also looking at other options like Rennes forward Serhou Guirassy and Chelsea striker Armando Broja and they will be far better signings than Adams.
