Sheffield United figure responds to Everton links with Daniel Jebbison

Everton are looking to sign a new striker as soon as possible and they could turn their attention to the Championship to find it.

Sheffield United teenager Daniel Jebbison is the man piquing the Toffees’ interest at the moment, as reported by Football League World, but no move has been made yet from the Merseyside club.

The 18-year-old has played in both of the Blades’ Championship fixtures so far but assistant manager Stuart McCall has issued a hands-off warning for anyone keen to sign him.

“Jebbo has had a good start to the season. He has got great potential,” he said to Yorkshire Live. “We enjoy working with him as we do all the players and certainly the young ones. We can see an improvement in him.

“He’s certainly improved again from last season. From our point of view, there’s no desire to be letting any of our group go out at this moment in time. We’ve got a job to do here, we want to be successful and to be successful that means getting out of this league.”

Future

Jebbison may have impressed last season on loan at Burton Albion as well as at the start of the new campaign but the jump from the second tier to the top flight is a large one.

He is not at a stage where he would be good enough to start regularly in the Premier League and he would have to from the start with Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an ex-Blade himself, out injured for a number of weeks.

Anthony Gordon was asked to play as a makeshift striker against Chelsea and it was obvious that he wasn’t entirely comfortable playing there but he did so for the good of the team.

Everton really lacked that target to aim for and in a few years’ time, Jebbison could be just that if he were to sign and maybe that is why the links refuse to die down.

The teenager would still be a good addition but the problems may come once he is asked to start weekly at such a tender age and having gained little experience so far.
