Everton moving away from pursuit of Idrissa Gueye – Lee Davey
Everton are moving away from making a move for Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to journalist Lee Davey.
The Toffees have been in the market to sign players to strengthen the squad for the 2022-23 campaign and were linked with the 32-year-old.
Gueye was expected to complete his move to Goodison Park but somehow it stalled and according to Davey, the Merseyside club are now looking for other options as well.

“I think he could go to be honest with you I think if there’s a late bid it is possible,” he said while talking to the Loaded Mag YouTube channel.
“But it depends if Everton were looking elsewhere which I’ve heard that they are actually, they’ve got one or two other bits lined up for that midfield slot.”
Smart decision
Everton came into the market hoping to sign a number of players to strengthen more than areas on the pitch.
With less than three weeks remaining, it seems like their window is finally picking up pace as they’ve now signed five first-team players.
Gueye’s arrival was always going to be a tricky one as he would’ve been coming in the same window where the Toffees have already signed another defensive midfielder Amadou Onana which did not make much sense.

Therefore, if they are thinking of going for other options as claimed by Davey, it will be a smart option for sure as there are other areas to be strengthened at the club.
Gueye, who left Everton and joined PSG in the summer of 2019 in a deal worth of £27 million, is in the final year of his contract with the French club.
Ever since moving to Paris, the Senegal international has played 111 matches for the reigning Ligue 1 champions where he has managed to score seven times and provided six assists [Transfermarkt].
