Everton join West Ham United in race to sign Lyon forward Moussa Dembele

Everton have become the latest club to join the race for French striker Moussa Dembele, as reported by Foot Mercato.

The website reported on 15 August that a host of Premier League clubs including Wolves, West Ham, Fulham and Nottingham Forest are vying for his signature.

He is also being targeted by clubs in Turkey, Italy and Spain. Dembele wants to stay in France, and he is open to signing a new deal at the club. The ball is in the player’s court at the moment.

Brilliant addition

Dembele has a contract at the French club until 2023, and therefore he can leave the club on free next summer.

Lyon have made a contract offer to him, and he is willing to sign him. The report suggest that he is not tempted by money but a strong project could lure him away.

He wants to join a club where he can develop further as a player and also take care of his financial needs as well.

Dembele is an experienced striker who has previously played in England with Fulham. He was a massive hit at Celtic where he scored 51 goals for the club in three seasons.

In total, he has managed 137 goals in his club career thus far. At 26, he is now approaching the peak years of his life, and Everton must look to get him on board.

The Toffees are desperate to sign a striker this summer. Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains the only option at the club, and the England striker has picked up an injury to make the matter worse.

Everton are also linked with moves for Armando Broja and Michy Batshuayi but Dembele would be a terrific addition. However, getting the deal done for him is a big challenge for the club.
