Everton agree loan to buy deal with Besiktas for Dele Alli after two weeks of talks

Everton have agreed a deal in principle with Besiktas for the season-long loan of midfielder Dele Alli after two weeks of talks, according to The Mirror.

The Toffees signed Dele on an initial free transfer from Tottenham in January, with clauses that could see the club paid up to £40m based on performance related bonuses.

But the 26-year-old is now set to leave on loan just seven months later with Everton having paid nothing for him, after Frank Lampard gave the green light to the move.

Everton

Everton have agreed to let him leave, but the final decision rests with the player who wants regular first-team football but doesn’t want to take a pay cut from his £100k per-week wages.

Spurs are due to receive £10m once Dele makes 20 appearances for the Toffees. He has currently made 13, with all but one of those coming as a substitute with no goals or assists to his name.

Disaster

This move has been nothing short of a disaster from start to finish, despite all the positive reaction at the time the deal was announced at the start of the year.

A fresh environment away from Tottenham was expected to be a game changer for Dele, who has plenty of England caps but none since 2019.

However all it’s done is raise further questions about his commitment when he couldn’t get into an Everton team that was battling heavily against relegation last season without their best striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin available to provide them with goals.

This season he has started on the bench again in the same scenario and it seems as though Lampard, who once described him as one of the best in the world in his position, has had enough and is ready to sever ties to save the club money and rely on other members of his squad instead.
